PROJECT PROFILE

Gregory Industries - Canton, Ohio

Gregory Industries of Canton, Ohio produces galvanized and roll formed steel products at their 160,000 sq. ft. plant in Canton, Ohio. The building is very large with heavy cranes active along the entire length of the facility. The existing roof was failing with chronic leaks threatening production at every rain.

This very large project was made even more challenging by the poor condition of the underlying metal deck. The caustic atmosphere from the galvanizing operations had corroded the roof deck requiring complete removal and replacement.

Once operations were underway it was discovered the entire perimeter transition at the side wall was deteriorated as well. Replacement panels were fabricated in our sheet metal shop using 16 gauge galvanized steel.

The existing rock ballast was removed using high powered vacuum trucks and sent for beneficial reuse. Two existing roof systems were removed and the rusted metal deck replaced where needed.

We then installed 2 of Polyisocyanurate insulation covered by a Versico .060â€ E.P.D.M. Rubber System fully adhered over the entire area. Expansion joints were installed to accommodate movement created by the crane activity. New roof drains were installed and new metal edge was fabricated from 24 gauge Kynar coated steel and installed around the entire perimeter.

The final result is an energy efficient roof assembly that looks great and is easy to maintain. Versico Inc. technical department inspected the installation and gave it a score of â€œ10â€. Versico Inc then issued a Total Systems Warranty covering the entire roof system including all materials and labor for a period of fifteen years.

The entire removal and installation was completed without interruption to the plant operations.
